All of us at PHS are saddened by the recent passing of former baseball coach, Charlie Adkins.  Coach Adkins spent 34 seasons coaching the Tigers, amassing more than 800 career wins, 20 district championships, and 14 regional titles.

In 1990, under Coach Adkins' leadership, the Tigers became Kentucky High School Baseball State Champions by beating Tates Creek with a score of 10 to 4.  It was the 2nd trip to the state finals for Adkins and the Tigers.  Paintsville lost to Lafayette High School the previous year.

Adkins retired as coach with an impressive 805 wins and only 293 losses.

Charles Adkins was born March 19, 1943.  He lost his battle to cancer April 21, 2010.  He was 67.  He is survived by his wife, Lois, and three children.
